Abstract

The study of Villa Clarín, far from being a mere academic exercise on a particular settlement, is established, as its author rightly points out when recalling Macondo as a mirror of the social problems that plague the Colombian fabric. Its history, marked by political violence and state neglect, is not an exception but a painfully familiar pattern in many regions of the country.
