Introduction: Artificial intelligence (AI) is a powerful tool with a capacity to act in different activities as well as concerning aeronautics. Objective: to analyze Artificial Intelligence as a key element in airport security. Methodology: it was based on documentary analysis, through the review of diferents documents, five of which were highly reliable in their content. Results: it highlights the capacity of AI as a key element for security is much more focused on alternatives such as threat detection, operations control, in addition to its capacity for decision making and thinking and learning on the basis of algorithms. Conclusions: AI is in the capacity to assume actions of identification, control and information provision, which are determinant in the protection of facilities and people.
